Report: Liverpool willing to sell Taiwo Awoniyi for £8m this summer

According to a report from today, Liverpool would be willing to sell Nigerian striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, for around £8m this summer.

Awoniyi, 23, has been with the Reds since 2015 but has struggled to ever really get going due to work-permit issues.. He has yet to make a first-team appearance for the club, but has been granted the right to work in the UK from next season.

However, it is claimed that Liverpool could look to sell Awoniyi. The club are keen to offload a number of squad and fringe players. The hope is that funds raised will help Jurgen Klopp re-invest in the squad elsewhere.

have already claimed this week that as many as five clubs are interested in Awoniyi. Those include West Brom and Stoke, while Wolfsburg are keeping their eyes peeled in Germany.

The striker scored five times this season in 20 games for Union Berlin. And while that isn’t prolific by any means, he has seemingly done enough to catch the eye.

Other players such as Harry Wilson, Marko Grujic, and Divock Origi could also be sold this summer. The report comes on the same day the club announced the signing of Ibrahima Konate.

Awoniyi needs to leave Liverpool for his own good

There is just no point in him sticking around at the moment. He’s not going to get game time, and the Reds are likely to sign someone else anyway.

A fresh start is needed for all here and if Liverpool can get around £8m, it will be another bit of great business.

It’s clear that Awoniyi has talent in the locker. But to make the step up to be Liverpool’s main man is a big one. Sadly for him, he’s not quite reached the appropriate level as yet.

Time is on his side, though, and a move away could spark his career into life.
