Report: Liverpool want Ruben Semedo and will offer five-year contract

Liverpool have emerged as interested parties in the race to sign Olympiacos defender Ruben Semedo,

The champions of Greece want £18 million for their central defender, with Liverpool preparing to swoop in order to ease their defensive crisis.

Jurgen Klopp looks like having to come up with a solution for now but will surely focus on a new defender in January.

Semedo has been in decent form for Olympiacos playing 10 times for the club during 2020/21.

The 26-year-old headed to Greece in 2019, checking in from Villarreal where he has spent two years.

He has played 55 times for Olympiacos in total and they could be willing to sell their star defender during January.

The report claims that Liverpool are preparing to offer the player with two Portugal caps a five-year contract.

TBR View Semedo looks an attractive signing

Kostas Tsimikas arrived at Liverpool from Olympiacos in the summer and raiding them again looks a real possibility.

Semedo’s age would make him an attractive signing for Liverpool given that he fits the profile of a typical Anfield addition.

Klopp won’t want to be in this predicament again and signing Semedo on a long-term deal seems to make sense.

Matip is hardly reliable and could actually move on as soon as the end of the campaign.

Signing Semedo would tie Liverpool over nicely until the end of the season when a genuinely world-class centre-back will probably be sought.

The Olympiacos defender is good on the ball, strong in the air and could be a shrewd piece of business for the reigning champions.
