Report: Liverpool touted as a possible suitor for Barcelona defender, club want him gone
that Liverpool could look to bring Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti to the club this summer, amid reports that he rejected a move to Anfield in January. The Spanish giants are keen to offload him in the coming months.
Umtiti, 27, has endured a difficult season at Barcelona under Ronald Koeman with injury limiting the World Cup winner to just 13 appearances throughout the 2020-21 campaign. He remains behind Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet and Oscar Mingueza.

Even with Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk all fit, Umtiti gives Liverpool something different. That is because he is left-footed – something which van Dijk, Gomez, Joel Matip, Nat Phillips and Kabak are not. Umtiti gives Liverpool a quality they lack.
Goal claim Umtiti has a release clause worth £52million and while he might not be worth that figure right now, he is certainly good enough to leave Barcelona for such a price. If Liverpool sign him for a cheaper fee, he can return to his best at Anfield.
