Report: Liverpool to try and sell Shaqiri and Wilson in January

Liverpool will attempt to sell Xherdan Shaqiri and Harry Wilson in January, with club keen to get the pair off the books permanently.

But Shaqiri and Wilson will not get the same chance, and they now face potential limbo with neither particularly close to regular first-team minutes.

Last term Wilson played on loan at Bournemouth. The Wales international did OK, but it seems he didn’t do enough for Klopp to want him.

£13  million signing Shaqiri () had an injury-hit 2019/21, and ended up making just 11 appearances across all competitions.

TBR’s View – Limbo awaits for Shaqiri and Wilson

The Daily Star add that Klopp wanted Shaqiri and Wilson sold before Monday’s transfer deadline, suggesting the pair will seldom, if at all, be seen for the first-team over the next few months.

With Divock Origi, Takumi Minamino, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all vying for minutes, it’s just so difficult to see where opportunities will come from for the pair.

Not only is a move away from Liverpool best for the club, it would also be best for the players themselves.
