Report: Liverpool to snub freebie and trust exciting youngster

Liverpool will reportedly turn down the chance to sign Max Kruse on a free transfer and instead give Rhian Brewster a chance to prove himself.

that versatile forward Kruse is not on the agenda for the Reds, who want to hand U17 World Cup-winning youngster Brewster the opportunity to shine.

Kruse is leaving Bundesliga club Werder Bremen for a second time after re-signing for them in 2016.

The 31-year-old, who scored 12 goals and made 14 assists last term, had been linked with a free transfer to Anfield earlier this summer as a potential left-field signing for Jurgen Klopp.

The Star say Klopp wants to hand a more senior role to Brewster, which will likely go down well with supporters.

TBR’s view

Kruse would have been a handy squad player and his creativity would have been nice, but he arguably would have been a barrier to young Brewster’s development.

It is important for the 19-year-old to get as many opportunities as possible now following his year out of the game with injury.

With Daniel Sturridge having left there’s a very good chance he will be seen in the first-team in 2019/20, and an even better chance if reports are to be believed that Klopp will not move for freebie Kruse.
