Report: Liverpool to rival Arsenal for Guido Rodriguez signature

Premier League outfit Liverpool are interested in the signing of Real Bets midfielder Guido Rodriguez,

Arsenal are also keen on signing the player who has a release clause of £69 million in his contract with the La Liga outfit.

Jurgen Klopp could be on the hunt for a new midfield maestro, with Gini Wijnaldum looking set to move to Barcelona on a free transfer.

Liverpool have relinquished control of their title with nothing more than a whimper and the club will enter the transfer market in the summer.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed a decent campaign with Real Betis, playing 28 games for the team and scoring two goals.

Rodriguez has played 10 times for Argentina and looks like being a wanted man during the summer transfer window.

Liverpool do have Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Thiago in their ranks even if Wijnaldum does depart in the summer.

The hope will be that better players can be added to compliment the squad, however, and Rodriguez would certainly do that.

He is strong, good on the ball and is capable of picking out a pass from the middle of the park.

TBR View: Rodriguez would be an ideal addition for Liverpool

The Argentine is the sort of player who could prove a shrewd addition for the Reds when the window reopens.

Attracting several stellar signings might prove tricky but Rodriguez would sign for Liverpool ahead of his very best years.

He is a top-five La Liga player this season when it comes to tackles and interceptions and his battling qualities could make him a standout at Liverpool.

The player would surely fancy an Anfield switch over moving to Arsenal and Klopp would do well to pounce.
