Report: Liverpool star’s loan move in doubt, Leeds already in contact and ‘ready to pounce’
Liverpool star Rhian Brewster’s loan move to Swansea City is on hold after a breakdown in talks, and Leeds United have already contacted the player’s representatives with the Whites ‘ready to pounce’.
The 19-year-old has been expected to join Swansea on loan until the end of the season, with a deal expected to be announced this week. Liverpool wanted to keep Brewster until now in order to give him a run out in the FA Cup win over Everton.
However, a deal to move to north Wales is now hold. Despite there being no loan fee for Brewster, Swansea are unwilling to include goal bonuses – and are only willing to include basic bonuses, such as if Swansea gain promotion.
It is hoped a resolution can be found between Swansea and Liverpool, but the Welsh side should be concerned with Leeds and Bristol City making contact with Brewster’s agents in a bid to swing a deal in their favour at the eleventh hour.

TBR’s view – Is Brewster good enough to compete with Patrick Bamford?
Bamford showed just how important he is to Leeds United on New Year’s Day as he came off the bench to completely turn the 1-1 draw against West Brom on its head – after Eddie Nketiah had started the match.
Ex-Chelsea striker Bamford is absolutely pivotal to Leeds – and Brewster will have to learn quickly if he is to replace Bamford up front. The likelihood is, though, that he will play back-up to the ex-Middlesbrough forward.
