Report: Liverpool preparing £14.5m offer to sign Ugurcan Cakir

that Liverpool are preparing a £14.5million offer to sign Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir – but face enormous competition from European clubs such as RB Leipzig and Sevilla.

Cakir, 24, has already earned the captain’s armband at Trabzonspor having broken through the academy ranks to shine in the first team. Despite being young for a goalkeeper, he has already clocked up 106 appearances – keeping 24 clean sheets.

This season, he has 10 in 29 and conceded only 30 goals – while also earning six caps for Turkey. His form is not going unnoticed, though, and Liverpool are said to be preparing an offer to sign Cakir as they look to bring in cover for Alisson.

However, Liverpool are not alone in pursuit of Cakir – who is a teammate of Ozan Kabak at national level. Leipzig are said to be interested in luring him to Germany while Europa League holders Sevilla are also keen on nabbing his signature.

TBR’s view – Cakir would be a sensational back-up for Alisson

Cakir is good enough to start for a whole host of Premier League clubs. At just £14.5million, he is a bargain and given he is only 24, he is still a baby in terms of goalkeepers. If Liverpool can get him for that fee, it is a no-brainer.

Such a move would spell the end of Adrian, while Caomihin Kelleher might have to consider a loan deal. But bringing in Cakir is worth it – would he be tempted with a move to Liverpool? It depends whether he is happy to warm the bench.
