Report: Liverpool monitor Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook

Liverpool are reportedly showing an interest in Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook.

, the Reds are monitoring the central midfielder and he could be a potential target if he proves his form and fitness this season.

It is understood that Chelsea are also keen on the Premier League playmaker and are looking out for the best young English talent.

The report states that he’s been likened to Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson due to his high work-rate, passing quality and leadership.

Cook is slowly working his way back from a long-term injury at Bournemouth, but has proven in the past he’s a top emerging talent.

He’s played a major role in England’s various youth teams in recent years and earned his sole senior cap in 2018 under Gareth Southgate.

The 22-year-old can dictate play from the centre of the park with his great range of passing, but his recent injury means he’s gone under the radar in terms of promising English talents.

TBR’s View:

Cook may not be a household name yet, but there is certainly huge potential in the midfielder and there is no reason he couldn’t make the step up to Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp has made so many astute signings during his time in charge of the Merseyside club, as nobody was going too over the top when they signed the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Joel Matip and Andy Robertson.

But Klopp has built a brilliant Liverpool squad full of the right personalities and the fans should book a move for Cook if the boss deems fit.

Chelsea could prove to be a difficult rival though in the chase for his signature, as they are an attractive option for young players given the wave of academy graduates that have broken into their first-team this season.
