Report: Liverpool join Celtic, West Ham and other English clubs in Omar Colley race
that Liverpool and Burnley have joined the highly-contested race for Sampdoria defender Omar Colley this summer, joining Scottish champions Celtic and West Ham United in pursuit.
Colley, 27, has caught the attention of plenty of English clubs of late after a stunning 2019-20 campaign with Serie A outfit Sampdoria. He helped his side keep nine clean sheets in the 31 Serie A outings he made last season.
The report states that West Ham, West Brom and Celtic have all taken a look at the 12-time Gambia international this summer and remain interested. But it is now claimed that Liverpool and Burnley have joined the race for Colley.
The Reds are likely to be in the market for a new centre-back, following the sale of Dejan Lovren to Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg. It leaves Jurgen Klopp with just Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez as options.

TBR’s view – Colley could be a cheap option for Liverpool
that Sampdoria will consider offers of £9million or more for Colley and at such a small figure, Liverpool could be adding real defensive quality to their side for a fee smaller than the one received for Lovren.
If such a move happens for Liverpool to land Colley and have money left over from the sale of Lovren, then Michael Edwards and the Liverpool board deserve huge praise. Whether Liverpool can convince Colley to join remains to be seen.
That is because Colley may feel he needs to join a side where he is first choice, rather than just back-up at Liverpool.
