Report: Liverpool eyeing midfielder Renato Sanches ahead of January window
Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Lille midfielder Renato Sanches as a possible January target, as they view him as an ideal replacement for current Reds man Georginio Wijnaldum.
, the Merseyside club are monitoring Sanches at French top-flight club Lille and his performances have impressed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
It is explained that the 23-year-old would become a priority target to sign for the Reds if their current midfielder Wijnaldum exits in next month’s transfer window.
The report details that Barcelona are eyeing 30-year-old Wijnaldum, which has seen Klopp’s side consider any potential replacement.
Wijnaldum, who cost Liverpool £25million (), is now in the final year of his contract at Anfield and has been a key part of the successful team in the past couple of seasons with his energy and individual ability in the centre of the park.
Meanwhile, Sanches is still a relatively young player aged 23 despite the fact he made his first-team debut over five years.
The all-action central midfielder has already played at Benfica, Bayern Munich and Swansea City, but it looks like the former wonderkid has got back on track in France with Lille.

TBR’s View:
It’s going to be a colossal task trying to replace Wijnaldum in the Liverpool midfield whenever he does leave, especially if they have to try do business in what is usually a tougher January window.
Sanches previously failed to make an impact in the Premier League during a brief spell at Swansea, but he’s now beginning to mature in Ligue 1 and perhaps he could get another crack in English football with the reigning league champions.
It looks like he’s got the physical attributes to succeed and Liverpool bringing him in as an initial squad player could work well, as he would be able to learn off the likes of Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson.
