Report: Liverpool could sell Rhian Brewster on one condition, Newcastle United have enquiry thrown out
Liverpool are willing to allow Rhian Brewster to leave the club this summer and will protect themselves with a buy-back clause in any potential deal,
Newcastle United have already made an enquiry about the striker who scored 11 goals on loan with Swansea City in the Championship last season.
The Magpies have been that any concrete offer would be turned down, however, with Liverpool believing his first-team opportunities would be restricted at St James’ Park.
Several clubs are thought to be interested in acquiring the 20-year-old, with Sheffield United, Aston Villa and Brighton all weighing up their options.
Brewster is yet to score a first-team goal for Liverpool in four outings for Jurgen Klopp’s team but it was anticipated he’d earn a shot this season.
According to yesterday, Liverpool will look to recoup around £20 million for the player who has risen through the youth ranks at Anfield.
It would perhaps be a strange one should the Reds allow Brewster to depart during the current transfer window.
His form at Swansea showcased a lethal presence in the box and someone who would only get better with the more games he played.
Liverpool have Roberto Firmino who typically plays as the central focal point of the Reds’ attack, with Divock Origi in reserve from the bench.
Competition
The Belgian flattered to deceive last season, however, and allowing Brewster to leave would further weaken Klopp’s options in reserve to his starting eleven.
With the Reds hoping to defend their title this season, this might sour some of the supporters going into the new campaign.
Liverpool fans take great pride in seeing academy players thrive and allowing Brewster to leave wouldn’t be a great situation in that respect.
What it could do, however, is allow Klopp some room to bring one or two players in and if that’s the case it could soften the blow of seeing a bright young talent depart the club.
