Report: Liverpool could make move to sign ‘top-class’ midfield enforcer, they can buy him for £22m

Liverpool could now make a move to sign Real Betis midfield enforcer Guido Rodriguez, .

Jurgen Klopp’s midfield struggles have been well-documented this season, with Thiago and Jordan Henderson both spending time on the sidelines at the beginning of the campaign.

The Reds have brought in Arthur Melo on a season-long loan from Juventus. But the Brazilian has only made one appearance and is set for a spell on the sidelines.

This could mean that Klopp is forced to dip back into the market for a central midfielder in January. And it seems they could move for the ‘top-class’ Rodriguez.

Liverpool could move for Rodriguez

and this could benefit Liverpool.

The Reds could look at the Argentinian midfielder after Melo’s difficult start to his spell at Anfield.

Betis are apparently open to negotiate for Rodriguez and want at least £21.9 million for their midfielder.

It seems that Liverpool may decide to target another midfielder in January, especially if Arthur’s injury is as serious as suspected.

Fabinho is not playing to his usual high standards at this moment in time. Klopp’s other options include an ageing James Milner and young talents like Harvey Elliott.

Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-chamberlain have been plagued by injuries. Liverpool seem to be in desperate need of refreshing their midfield options.

Rodriguez would undoubtedly be an astute signing for the Reds and he’s been a standout performer for Betis.

The 28-year-old has won 25 caps for Argentina and is a combative midfielder, who possesses the energy required to play in a Klopp side.

But one issue has been the fact that Klopp’s midfield is ageing, so it may be a more sensible move for the Reds to go for a younger talent. Of course, Liverpool’s interest in Jude Bellingham is well-documented and he certainly fits the bill.

But with the competition for his signature set to be fierce, there are other options like Brighton’s Moise Coicedo, who could represent a more long-term solution to Liverpool’s midfield issues.
