Report: Liverpool complete signing of Joe Hardy

”He’s certainly going from an environment here that has prepared him properly. We’ve said it in recent months, that not all of our players will go on to play for Brentford’s first team, but what we want to do is give them a career and this is a step forward in Joe’s career.”

Rhian Brewster is looking more likely to make a loan move this month with Leeds and Swansea reportedly interested. This would mean there is a space in the U-23 team for Hardy to lead the line.

However, signing a 21-year-old who has never played senior football seems slightly strange. Liverpool already have Firmino, Salah, Origi and Brewster who can operate in the number nine role. The club is on a serious upward trajectory and Hardy could find it tough to ever make it in the first team.
