Report: Liverpool add French midfielder Houssem Aouar to shortlist, Arsenal already linked
that Liverpool have added Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar to their summer shortlist alongside recognisable names such as Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Diego Carlos.
The Reds are expected to make a number of signings this summer, with Jurgen Klopp also likely to wave goodbye to some his first-team staff. Adam Lallana’s contract is due to expire, as does Nathaniel Clyne’s. Dejan Lovren is being linked with a move.
In a mini-overhaul, players are being targeted as arrivals. Sevilla’s Carlos, Leipzig’s Werner and Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz are joined by Norwich’s Todd Cantwell, PSG ace Kylian Mbappe and Borussia Dortmund’s English wonderkid Jadon Sancho.
All have been linked in the past, but a new name on the shortlist is 21-year-old Aouar. This season, Aouar has had a hand in 16 goals in 37 matches – and has already clocked up 133 outings for Lyon. They are not the only Premier League side interested.
that Aouar has caught the attention of those at Arsenal. Lyon value Aouar at £52million, and that he has a contract until the summer of 2023.

TBR’s view – Arsenal move would be better for Aouar
At Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp’s side are renowned for having hard-working midfielders that are not renowned for getting forward – instead priding themselves on work rate and engine-room work.
It has seen Adam Lallana plummet down the pecking order, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are in and out of the side. At Arsenal, they need a goalscoring central midfielder and Aouar would surely be first choice at The Emirates.
