Report: Liverpool ace Tsimikas reemerges as target for Napoli

Liverpool defender Konstantinos Tsimikas has reportedly reemerged as a transfer target for Napoli.

What’s the story?

According to , the Italian side is interested in the Greece international. The publication is claiming they are open to a loan move for the 25-year-old.

Tsimikas was a target for the Serie A outfit before moving to Anfield in last summer’s transfer window.

He endured a nightmare season with the club, playing just across all competitions. However, despite his lack of game time, it was revealed two months ago that Jurgen Klopp wanted to keep faith with the left-back.

Tsimikas has no chance of ousting key man

After last season, it is safe to say there is next to no chance of the ace ousting Andy Robertson.

The Scotland international is a key player for Jurgen Klopp and will continue to be as long as he is on Merseyside.

As a result, Liverpool would be wise to let Tsimikas make the move to Napoli. Even if it is temporary, it will allow the former Olympiacos man to get some much-needed game time.

However, his lack of appearances is a testament to the fitness of Robertson. The defender’s ability to play many games in a short space of time makes him a useful asset. On the flip side, it frustrates Tsimkas, who is virtually redundant.
