Report: Levy trying to secure cut-price £17m Tottenham deal

that Daniel Levy is unwilling to sanction the permanent signing of Carlos Vinicius, given the clause in his loan-to-buy deal is a whopping £36million. However, he is still keen to do a deal – but at a lower price.

Vinicius, who turns 26 later this month, has scored nine goals in 19 games for Spurs this season – while also laying on three assists. But the Brazilian has only been afforded 168 minutes of Premier League football, failing to score in England’s top flight.

He has done well in Europe and Spurs are keen to offer him a permanent deal – but Levy is not ready to sanction the figure that currently sits in his loan deal. Indeed, Levy is looking to do a deal for less than half the £36million figure – at £17million.

A meeting was held at the beginning of March, with the player’s agent stating he wants to stay at Spurs – though Levy is only willing to offer slightly more than the fee Benfica paid to sign him from Napoli. It remains to be seen how much Benfica want.

TBR’s view – How much is a good deal for Vinicius?

Clearly, the permanent clause in his contract is ridicilously high – and far too much for Spurs to even consider buying him. While he is a good striker, he is yet to prove he can do it in the Premier League. So, £36million is too much.

At £17million, Spurs would be securing a good deal and it would also see Benfica make a profit on the uncapped Brazilian. But, for a player that scored 25 goals in the season before joining Spurs, Benfica are going to want more.

If Spurs can sanction a deal for little over £20million, then they have secured themselves a good fee.
