Report: Leicester City readying £14m swoop for Crystal Palace star Andros Townsend
, Leicester City want Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend. Brendan Rodgers is ready to launch a bid for £14m-rated Townsend this summer.
Crystal Palace might face a battle as they try to keep Wilfried Zaha at the club. But fellow attacking midfielder Townsend is also being pursued.
Leicester manager Rodgers wants to bolster his squad this summer to push for a top-seven finish next season. And Townsend is one player he has identified to strengthen their options.
Townsend has enjoyed a successful stay at Selhurst Park since his 2016 move from Newcastle. He has scored 14 goals in three seasons with the Eagles but could now leave.
The left-footed winger scored one of the goals of the season against Manchester City earlier in the campaign. His sweetly-hit volley was a goal to remember.

Rodgers is a fan of the 27-year-old and hopes that Leicester can snap him up. The Foxes have some exciting talents in attacking midfield, such as James Maddison, Demarai Gray and Harvey Barnes.
But Rodgers wants another player in this department and has identified Townsend as his man. He could press ahead with this deal if Maddison leaves in the summer.
Townsend will undoubtedly harbour ambitions of an England recall and playing Europa League football has to be the next step in his career. Whether he believes he can achieve that with Leicester will play a major factor in his decision.
