Report: Leeds want West Brom midfielder on loan; Baggies’ stance shared

Leeds United are one of the Championship sides interested in signing West Bromwich Albion midfielder Rekeem Harper on loan, .

Harper has played a peripheral role for the Baggies this season. He has appeared just once in the Championship. But it appears that his recent performance in the FA Cup caught the eye.

The 19-year-old impressed against Charlton Athletic in the third round of the competition. And The Sun on Sunday has suggested that the Addicks are rivalling Marcelo Bielsa’s side for the starlet.

that Fulham and Queens Park Rangers also want Harper on loan for the rest of the season.

However, the report notes that Slaven Bilic is keen to keep the teenager at the Hawthorns. So it would appear unlikely that Harper will be on the move this month.

TBR View – Harper an intriguing target for Leeds

Given their two respective positions in the Championship, it was always going to be ambitious for Leeds to target a West Brom player on loan.

Despite the clear respect between Bielsa and Bilic, the Baggies would surely not want to make the Whites, or Fulham, any stronger by lending them one of their brightest prospects.

But it is also arguably a very intriguing link with Leeds. Some fans would argue that Bielsa’s men do need more depth in the middle of the park given the injury problems that they have had this season.

Harper really impressed last term. But he is yet to really get a chance during this campaign. So it is a surprise that Leeds were seemingly weighing up a loan move.

They, along with three Championship rivals, seemingly felt that Harper was capable of making an immediate impact.

Unfortunately for Harper’s admirers, Bilic’s stance suggests that he is not going anywhere during this window.
