Report: Leeds want Massimiliano Allegri if Bielsa decides to leave

Leeds United are eyeing a sensational swoop to make Massimiliano Allegri their new manager – if Marcelo Bielsa decides to leave during the summer,

The report comes courtesy of transfer guru Duncan Castles who claims Leeds have approached the former Juventus boss to discover whether or not he’d been keen on the gig.

Bielsa is out of contract during the summer and the White are preparing a contingency plan in the event of the 65-year-old departing.

Interestingly Allegri has been using his current sabbatical from the game to try and learn English in the hope of one day landing a Premier League job.

The 53-year-old spent five years managing the Old Lady, leading the club to five Serie A titles and four Coppa Italia victories.

He also won the league with Milan during the 2010/11 campaign and his arrival at Elland Road would be quite something.

Of course, at the moment it’s all theoretical with Bielsa currently the incumbent tasked with leading the Leeds team.

TBR View: Allegri would be a real coup for Leeds

It’ll be a sad day when Bielsa decides to call time on his Elland Road reign but appointing Allegri would soften the blow.

He’s proven himself at the highest level and could really take Leeds to the next level.

Leeds are currently 12th in the Premier League and that is about par for the course during their maiden campaign in the top-flight.

In the future, the Whites will want to push even higher up the table, however, with Europe likely to be the ambition.

Allegri could be the ideal candidate to help the club achieve such a goal.
