Report: Leeds want Everton winger Yannick Bolasie

that Leeds United are interested in Everton winger Yannick Bolasie ahead of the summer window, despite his difficult spell with Championship rivals Aston Villa this season.

The 29-year-old is seemingly surplus to requirements at Goodison Park. The summer signings of Richarlison and Bernard saw the DR Congo international plummet down the pecking order.

He spent the first half of the season on loan at Villa, but he managed to score just two goals in 21 appearances. Of those outings, Bolasie struggled to break into the starting eleven and started only nine of those.

The former Crystal Palace and Bristol City ace has picked up his form since moving to Belgian giants Anderlecht in January. He has scored four goals in eight games, and Anderlecht want to sign him permanently.

But the Jupiler League Pro side will struggle to afford both Bolasie’s transfer fee and wages. Everton will want to recoup a chunk of the £25million they spent on him (). he is earning £75,000 a week.

TBR’s view

Bolasie showed in the Championship last season that perhaps he has past his prime. The extra yard of pace was missing, and he certainly has not fully returned to the player he was prior to snapping his anterior cruciate ligament.

The report claims Leeds will only sign Bolasie if they gain promotion. But Bolasie struggled during 2017-18 at Everton despite being a regular under Sam Allardyce. Going on that form, he would be an expensive waste.

Indeed, it depends how much Everton want and how much Bolasie is willing to reduce his wage demands. But they would have to be considerably reduced if he is to be worth signing.
