Report: Leeds United now closing in on really ‘important’ signing
Leeds United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Red Bull Salzburg captain Maximilian Wober.
Speculation linking the Whites with the Austria international has intensified in recent days.
On Tuesday, Fabrizio Romano said Leeds were preparing an offer for the “important” player.
Now, it looks as though Leeds are closing in on the signing of Wober, according to reports from Austria.
claims the 24-year-old has already completed a medical with the Premier League side.
Apparently, a fee still needs to be agreed between the two clubs, with the sum likely to be over £13.3million.
Marsch reportedly views Wober as a ‘dream’ signing, and the player himself is said to be eager for a new challenge.
What can Leeds fans expect from Wober?
Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund has already suggested what Leeds would be getting in Wober.
“Max is not only a really good defender just in the way we want of him,” he told their after he signed a new contract earlier this year.
“He is also a real leader in the team who is happy to take on responsibility, which is an important factor for our young team.
“He has developed really well over the past three years in Salzburg as a player and a person. That makes us even happier to extend his contract.”

Superb signing for Leeds – TBR View
Great news for Leeds if true, and this transfer rumour certainly has legs.
The Whites have struggled at the back this year, and Wober is a quality signing who’ll bolster the defence.
Marsch has also worked with him before, so both player and manager will know what to expect from this move.
In addition, Wober can play at both centre-back and left-back. This gives Marsch even more options.
And for less than £15million, he’d be a real bargain of a signing, considering his talent, experience and age.
Leeds remain just two points above the Premier League drop zone and have shipped 29 goals, so it’s crucial they tighten up at the back.
