Report: Leeds United have made contact with Liverpool regarding £20 million rated Harry Wilson

Leeds United have reportedly been in contact with Liverpool regarding a deal for Harry Wilson this summer, according to a new report.

Leeds have previously been linked with a move for the Welsh international, who has impressed on loan spells with Derby County and Bournemouth in the past two seasons.

is now reporting that Leeds have been in touch with the Premier League champions to discuss a possible move for the player, along with both Southampton and Newcastle United.

The report also makes it clear that Wilson will not be leaving the club on loan this summer. If he leaves, it will be for good, with a loose asking price of £20 million on his head.

In December, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp waxed lyrical about Wilson’s talents, and stated his belief that he could have a future at Anfield.

“Of course he can [succeed at Anfield]. That’s why we loaned him, so he can make the steps,” the Liverpool manager was. “It would have been difficult for Harry and I would have loved to have had him here if we had another choice, especially when Shaq [Xherdan Shaqiri] was injured. You want to have these kinds of players but that is not the moment to decide. All the players we sent on loan have the chance to make it in the first team; otherwise, we would have sold them.

“His shooting is world-class. Find me five players who shoot better than him, that is obvious, but the game is about more and that is what he has to improve and that is clear…”

However, for the good of the player, Liverpool are willing to let him go this summer if it is a permanent move. If not, he will likely become a member of the Liverpool first-team picture.

Leeds are on the hunt for a player of Wilson’s description, having recently tried to sign his former Melwood team-mate Ryan Kent and Udinese playmaker Rodrigo De Paul.

But it seems Wilson could be available if Leeds are ready to pay the price.

At £20 million, Leeds are likely to view Wilson as overpriced. However, if they could bring that price-tag down, a move would certainly seem possible.
