Report: Leeds to activate £30m release clause for unit; Bielsa has ‘insistently asked’ for him

Leeds United will reportedly activate the €36m (£30m) release clause for Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez.

, Leeds are ‘ready’ to pay the fee that could bring the Uruguayan midfielder to Elland Road. Nandez has been heavily linked with Leeds for some time.

As per the report, Marcelo Bielsa has ‘insistently asked’ for Nandez, who has been one of Cagliari’s top performers since joining in 2019. The midfielder is a regular for the Uruguay national team, making 37 appearances for the South American nation.

Nandez signing will help solidify Leeds midfield

Leeds impressed in their comeback year in the Premier League last season. The Yorkshire giants claimed ninth in the standings and look set to build upon this impressive finish.

And the signing of Nandez will likely help Leeds in their quest to finish higher in the table next season. As , the 25-year-old ace’s physicality and ‘never say die’ attitude for the likes of Penarol and Boca Juniors has made him a fan favourite for both clubs.

And this will no doubt make Leeds fans excited for Nandez if he signs this window. Alongside Kalvin Phillips in the midfield, the Whites will have a formidable midfield duo to screen the defence.
