Report: Leeds target 24-year-old Rangers star with £15m bid

Leeds are reportedly lining up a third bid for Ryan Kent.

The 24-year-old has been on fine form this season as Rangers won their first top-tier Scottish title since 2011, and he scored an excellent goal in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Hibs at Ibrox.

Kent arrived on loan from Liverpool in July 2018, and after impressing Steven Gerrard he signed a permanent deal for £6.5 million 14 months later.

The winger has made a total of 123 appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals, and he turned in a series of impressive performances as Rangers reached the Europa League’s last 16.

He’s been a long-time target for Leeds, with the reporting that the Elland Road club have made two unsuccessful attempts to sign him, including an £11 million bid in the summer of 2020.

Now, the are claiming that they are preparing a £15 million bid and that Marcelo Bielsa is eager for the Englishman to give them a quick answer.

Speaking to earlier this week, former Rangers winger Mark Walters urged Kent to remain at Ibrox.

He said: “Ryan is in a great team right now and, personally, I think he’s still got a lot to do up there.

“If he left I don’t think it would be great for his progress.

“I can understand teams will be interested in him because he is playing so well.

“I don’t know what his long-term ambitions are but, for me, he needs to have another good season up in Glasgow then think about that.

“I’m sure Rangers will be disappointed they didn’t do better in Europe this season and they will have the Champions League to aim for next term.

“Hopefully he hangs around for that because, in my opinion, there are not many clubs Ryan could get that would be an improvement on Rangers.

“They are a club that can fulfil all his ambitions at the moment.

“Only Ryan knows what he wants to achieve but, for me, he’d be crazy to move this summer.”
