Report: Leeds still have offer on table for Gjanni Alioski, despite club confirming exit
Leeds United confirmed the exit of Gjanni Alioski on a free transfer last week, after four years at the club. But now, – claiming that a contract offer remains on the table for Leeds ace Alioski. Bizarrely, he could remain at Leeds.
Alioski, 29, played 171 times for Leeds in four seasons at the club. In that time, the versatile left-footer scored an impressive 22 goals – despite largely being used as a left-back. He also laid on 19 assists for the Yorkshire club. But last week, Leeds confirmed that that had come to an end.
However, in strange circumstances, that Alioski still has an offer on the table from Leeds. The defender is also in talks with Turkish trio Trabzonspor, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray – but he could end up staying at Leeds, bizarrely. The three clubs are yet to meet his demands, though.
Would Leeds benefit keeping Alioski – as contract offer remains on table?
Without a doubt. While the club have signed Junior Firpo from Barcelona, Leeds do still lack cover for their new signing at left-back. Stuart Dallas is now considered a midfielder. Leif Davis and Niall Huggins are under-23 players and it remains to be seen if they can make the step up.
It would also benefit Leeds because Alioski can offer cover out wide for the likes of Jack Harrison. With Pablo Hernandez going, that would be helpful. But for Alioski, staying at Leeds to be a bit-part player is not the ideal scenario. He needs to consider reducing his demands.
