Report: Leeds set to complete Diego Llorente signing, deal to exceed £18.5m
that Diego Llorente is set to complete a move to Leeds United this summer, in a deal that is expected to exceed a whopping £18.5million.
Llorente, 27, came through the ranks at Real Madrid and even made three senior appearances for the Galacticos – only to join Real Sociedad in the summer of 2017. His form for Sociedad has even seen him earn five Spain caps.
The central defender started and finished Sociedad’s draw with Real Valladolid, but was an unused substitute during a 0-0 stalemate against his old side Madrid on Sunday. Now, it appears the reason for his absence has come to light.
Leeds are expected to make their third big-name addition in Llorente, after completing deals for Robin Koch and Rodrigo. It is believed that Llorente’s move to Leeds will exceed £18.5million – with a small percentage of that fee going to Real Madrid.
TBR’s view – Leeds have landed themselves a bargain
Conceding seven goals in their first two Premier League matches against Liverpool and Fulham has seemingly seen Victor Orta swing into action. A lack of cover, combined with a leak at the back, has convinced Leeds to enter the transfer window.
Llorente, at a fee that is likely to be in the region of £20million, is an absolute bargain. The Whites have got a player that is close to performing at his peak, a Spain international and one that can also offer cover in defensive midfield. A no-brainer.
A ball-playing defender, Llorente is tough in the air and can also play in holding midfield. Llorente’s move is likely to see him become Leeds’ third most-expensive ever signing, behind Rio Ferdinand and Rodrigo.
