Report: Leeds remain interested in Serie A terrier, would cost £26m
that Leeds United remain interested in Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez having been linked with the Uruguay international last summer – but he could cost a near club-record fee.
Nandez, 25, was strongly linked with Leeds among other clubs before the start of the 2020-21 campaign as the Whites looked to bring in a midfielder that could cope with Marcelo Bielsa’s demands – and cover for Kalvin Phillips.
Midfielder Nandez, renowned for his terrier-like aggression and his lung-busting stamina, can play in the number six role that Mateusz Klich and Stuart Dallas occupy – as well as being able to act as a holding midfielder.
The 35-time Uruguay international remains a target for Leeds after another solid campaign with Cagliari, though the Italian side are in danger of relegation – sitting in 17th. It is claimed he would cost a fee of £26million.

TBR’s view – Nandez would be worth every penny
The report states that Nandez has a release clause worth £30.5million but his slightly smaller price tag makes him a good deal. Not only is he a top, top player, but Nandez is only 25 – and is only going to get better in years to come.
It also claims that the relationship between Andrea Radrizzani and Cagliari owner Tommaso Giulini is strong and that if Leeds replicate the offer they sent to Cagliari eight months ago, worth £26million, then they will get him.
