Report: Leeds on verge of bringing Jesse Marsch’s ‘absolute dream player’ to Elland Road

Leeds United have been heavily linked with Brenden Aaronson in recent days.

After the Whites secured their place in the Premier League, reports linking the two parties appeared once again.

Leeds were reportedly trying to sign Aaronson in January.

However, Red Bull Salzburg were – understandably – not willing to lose a key player mid-season.

Now, with most of the top European leagues finished, transfer business is firmly on everyone’s agenda.

has now provided a further update on Leeds’ reported pursuit of Aaronson.

The Austrian outlet – via – claims Salzburg are ‘rubbing their hands’ at the prospect of the midfielder joining Leeds.

The Elland Road outfit is apparently planning to pay around €28m (£24m) for Aaronson.

This would be the fourth most expensive departure of the Red Bull era at the Austrian club.

Salzburger Nachrichten also claim that Aaronson’s move to Leeds has been ‘planned for some time’.

However, it was only after the Whites secured their Premier League future that the way was ‘cleared’.

Aaronson is an ‘absolute dream player’ for Leeds boss Marsch. This is why the Whites are paying so much for the 21-year-old.

The midfielder will sign a deal until 2025 at Elland Road. It has also been made clear that his €28m fee will bring a ‘certain level of expectation’.

“I like to pick holes in defences”

Aaronson was a key player for Salzburg last season, making 41 appearances and registering six goals and 10 assists.

He helped his side win a ninth consecutive Austrian title and reach the last 16 of the Champions League.

After joining Salzburg, he told their that Steven Gerrard was his role model growing up.

He also said he joined the club as they play “fast, direct and attacking football”, which he loves.

When it came to his style of football, Aaron said he’s about “a lot of creative work.

“I work hard, I’m aggressive, I like to pick holes in defences and provide assists.”

Aaronson has also worked with Marsch before.

Marsch was the head coach of Salzburg at the time that they signed Aaronson from Philadelphia Union.

The 49-year-old : “He’s gotten better and better each game.

“I think he understands our philosophy of football.

“He’s very aggressive, he runs all day, he’s clever on the ball. He does all the things that we like in a player.”
