Report: Leeds make enquiry for Liverpool forward Divock Origi

Leeds United have reportedly made contact with Premier League champions Liverpool about their forward Divock Origi.

, Marcelo Bielsa’s team are considering a move for the 25-year-old if they fail to sign Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard.

It is understood that the Whites have already made an enquiry about Origi, who want to leave Anfield this summer in search of regular first-team minutes and ideally would like to stay in the Premier League.

Origi joined Liverpool back in 2014 for £10million () and he’s certainly repaid that, despite not being a nailed-on starter in recent years for Jurgen Klopp’s team.

The Belgian striker has popped up with some vital games in big moments, including a memorable brace in the 2018/19 season against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals.

Despite being a popular figure at Anfield, he finds himself stuck behind Roberto Firmino in the pecking order and is usually used as an impact substitute.

He managed six goals in 42 games across all competitions and reports suggest he’s now desperate to play on a more regular basis.

TBR’s View:

Leeds need to get a striker through the doors at Elland Road to compete with Patrick Bamford in the upcoming season and if Origi does join ironically his first game would be a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool in the Premier League.

He’s experienced the elite stage on numerous occasions aged just 25 and is someone that looks composed in front of goal, but definitely has a point to prove and wants to stay in English football to start for a Premier League side.

The forward looks like someone who could appeal to Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa, as he’s always shown a great work-rate on the field and has the energy in the final third to press high.
