Report: Leeds eye double loan deal for Wolves star and Premier League defender

that Leeds United have targeted Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Helder Costa and Brighton defender Ben White on loan this summer.

Marcelo Bielsa agreed to remain at Leeds for another 12 months and one of the requirements was that Leeds got their summer business done early. Costa and White are main targets for the Argentine boss.

Costa, 25, starred for Wolves for two seasons in the Championship, clocking up second-tier stats of 15 goals and 14 assists in 71 outings. He made 25 Premier League appearances last season, but Wolves could let him leave.

It is believed that a permanent move for the Portugal international, who Wolves signed from Benfica for £13million , would be too expensive for Leeds. But the Whites are hoping to engineer a loan move.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old centre-back White has cropped up again on Bielsa’s shortlist. The Brighton centre-back was eyed by Leeds last summer, and Bielsa is keen to land him as competition for Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper.

TBR’s view

Costa would be an excellent signing. The Portuguese ace was crucial in Wolves’ promotion to the Premier League during 2017-18, and Leeds certainly need a winger with a bit of flair.

Jack Harrison has returned to Manchester City following his loan, and although Leeds remain keen, Costa would be a major coup for the Whites. Bielsa also needs additions at centre-back, and White is certainly a promising player.

White impressed on loan at Peterborough United during the second half of the 2018-19 campaign, and though there may be better options out there, he would be solid cover for Jansson and Cooper.
