Report: Leeds could re-sign midfielder, a bargain fee of just £4.25million needed
that Leeds United have shown interest in re-signing Ronaldo Vieira from Serie A side Sampdoria. A bargain fee of just £4.25million could see the Whites bring Vieira back.
Vieira, 23, has failed to make a single appearance for Sampdoria this season due a long-term knee injury. He has been sidelined with the problem since March, but is close to returning to action.
However, whether he gets the necessary game time at Sampdoria is unclear. Joining Sampdoria in 2018, Marcelo Bielsa’s first summer as Leeds boss, he has only played 44 times for Sampdoria at senior level.
That is, after 71 appearances for Leeds. He has also been on loan at Verona, playing just five times. Injury has hampered his progress – and it almost saw him join Sheffield United in the summer.
Now, Sampdoria are open to his sale and the report claims Leeds are ‘trying to convince’ their academy product. Sampdoria would be willing to sell for £4.25million, less than the near-£6million fee they paid Leeds in 2018.

Everything makes sense. Vieira is clearly well-liked at Leeds, and there are murmurs that Bielsa did not want him to go. He knows what the club is about, he has a relationship with the fans.
Vieira is energetic in midfield, strong, good on the ball. Ideal cover for Kalvin Phillips. But what should concern Leeds is his injury issues, and a willingness from Sampdoria to get rid of him.
If Leeds are willing to be patient, then they have got to take a chance and bring him back – especially at £4.25m. Leeds fans cannot expect him to hit the ground running. att.
