Report: Leeds coach Carlos Corberan wanted by Huddersfield

Leeds United may face a fight to keep hold of coach Carlos Corberan this summer, g that Huddersfield Town have begun talks with the Spaniard as they look to replace Danny Cowley.

Cowley’s departure was announced on Sunday. The news came just a couple of days after the Terriers shocked West Brom.

The victory not only helped ensure that Huddersfield are virtually assured of remaining in the Championship for another season, but it also confirmed Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League.

And it appears that it may be a member of Marcelo Bielsa’s backroom team who now replaces Cowley at the John Smith’s Stadium.

that Corberan is one of the candidates Huddersfield are speaking to. Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson is also speaking to the club.

It has been suggested by The Sun that Cowley’s departure came from a disagreement with owner Phil Hodgkinson over how much control the latter could have over transfers.

TBR View: Corberan taking gamble if he chooses to leave Leeds

It is not the first time Corberan has been linked with leaving Leeds. that he rejected the chance to take over at Cultural Leonesa.

It remains to be seen what Corberan makes of Huddersfield’s interest. He may now be keen to take charge of his own side having spent the last two years working under Bielsa.

However, it cannot be an easy time to walk away from Leeds. There is a lot of excitement surrounding what the club could achieve now they are heading back to the Premier League.

So it will be very interesting to see whether Corberan decides to leave – if he is offered the post – or not.

Given some of the work he has done during his time at Elland Road, it would seemingly be a blow for Bielsa to lose a coach he has previously labelled ‘very talented’ ().
