Report: Jesse Marsch seen talking to £15.5m player who Leeds wanted to sign on Elland Road pitch last night
Leeds United were thrashed 4-2 by Monaco at Elland Road and afterwards, Jesse Marsch was spotted in deep conversation with Takumi Minamino. Leeds wanted to sign the Japanese star prior to him heading to the Ligue 1 outfit during the summer.
It wasn’t a brilliant final friendly for Leeds before the Premier League resumes. Robin Kock scored to put Leeds in front and Joe Gelhardt scored a penalty late on for the Whites.
Breel Embolo scored twice, however, with Gelson Martins and Ismail Jakobs also notching to silence the Elland Road faithful.

It was something that happened after the game that provided arguably the most intriguing situation of the night.
Marsch managed Minamino during his time at Red Bull Salzburg so there is a connection there. It’s fair to say, however, that the duo were in deep conversation,
The 27-year-old joined Monaco in the summer from Liverpool. He cost the club and ended a pretty disappointing time of things at Anfield.
He made 55 appearances for the Reds, scoring 14 goals and claiming three assists but never really managed a regular run during a successful period for Liverpool.
Interestingly, Leeds were with a move to sign the Liverpool trickster just before he made the decision to leave the club on a permanent basis.
Marsch spotted in deep conversation with Minamino
Minamino has only started five times for Monaco this season and perhaps Marsch was quizzing him on his current situation.
It’s not completely beyond the realms of possibility that he’d be loaned out and perhaps he could prove useful for Leeds.

The Whites started to drop off once again prior to the World Cup break. They’ve slipped back down to 15th after a defeat at Tottenham and are just two points above the relegation zone.
As a result, the January transfer window could be massive. Marsch needs a player or two to bolster his squad and perhaps a loan for Minamino wouldn’t be the worst idea.
