Report: Leeds battling six Serie A giants for Argentine forward
that Leeds United are rivalling six Serie A giants including both Milan clubs and Napoli in the race to sign Stuttgart goal machine Nicolas Gonzalez this summer.
Gonzalez, 22, has enjoyed an excellent campaign with Stuttgart – winning promotion back to the top tier of German football and netting 14 goals in 27 league games, despite playing out wide just as much as up front.
A three-time Argentina international, Gonzalez has caught the eye and is desperate to leave Stuttgart despite the club’s promotion. Leeds are keen, with his asking price is between £13.5million and £18million.
But they face enormous competition from Champions League clubs. Napoli and Atalanta, who remain in this season’s Champions League are keen, as are both Milan clubs, Lazio and Roma.

TBR’s view – Gonzalez would get most game time at Leeds
A move to Elland Road would see Gonzalez get the chance to play under an Argentine legend such as Marcelo Bielsa, Premier League football and become the club’s first-choice striker.
But the lure of the Champions League, the San Siro or enormous European footballing institutions such as Lazio or Roma are likely to prove more tempting than Yorkshire – even if it means he is not first choice.
