Report: Leeds battle Fulham, West Brom, Middlesbrough and others for Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers

Tottenham Hotspur will let Cameron Carter-Vickers head out on loan again with Leeds United among the clubs interested. , eight Championship clubs want Carter-Vickers, including Leeds and Fulham.

Carter-Vickers has been loaned out on three occasions in the last two seasons, spending time with Ipswich Town, Sheffield United and Swansea City. Tottenham do not plan to use him but with two years remaining on his contract, it looks like he will be given another loan spell.

Leeds are looking for another defensive signing to provide competition with Ben White and Liam Cooper. Pontus Jansson’s departure has forced Marcelo Bielsa to strengthen at the back.

After suffering relegation from the Premier League, Fulham are hoping to sign Carter-Vickers to bolster their defence. West Brom and Derby County – who both fell short in the play-offs last season – also want Carter-Vickers alongside promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough.

Bristol City are another club interested in Carter-Vickers as eight clubs chase the central defender. The USA international is also on the radar of newly-promoted duo Barnsley and Luton Town.

Carter-Vickers is likely to get game time wherever he goes in the Championship. The 21-year-old might be young but he is experienced with 64 Championship games to his name.

Leeds lack strength in depth in defence and Carter-Vickers would be a sensible short-term option on the cheap. Derby need a Fikayo Tomori replacement, Middlesbrough have lost Aden Flint and West Brom have lost Craig Dawson.

Carter-Vickers will ideally be joining a team pushing for promotion as he aims to take the next step in his career. He needs to weigh this up against likely game time as he makes his next career move.

If Tottenham keep Toby Alderweireld, they have several good central defensive options. Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth complete a strong centre-back department.

But Mauricio Pochettino will want to have one promising youngster waiting in the wings. If Carter-Vickers leaves on loan, Japhet Tanganga could earn a first-team promotion.

The 20-year-old has captained the U23 side and has been thoroughly impressive in pre-season. Will Pochettino send Tanganga out on loan too or keep him for the first-team?
