Report: Leeds and Tottenham still ‘observing’ midfielder, £31m release clause
that Leeds and Tottenham are still ‘observing’ Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez. The Uruguay international has a release clause with the Serie A side worth £31million.
Nandez, 25, has been a regular at Cagliari. Winning the Copa Libertadores with Boca Juniors – before moving to Cagliari in the summer of 2019. In two and a half years, he has clocked up 88 appearances.
In Italian football, Nandez is considered one of the best midfielders outside of the bigger clubs in Serie A. Indeed, Nandez is a regular for his country – clocking up 49 caps for Uruguay since his debut in September 2015.
Leeds have been linked with Nandez even before promotion to the Premier League. Meanwhile, Tottenham are now under the rule of Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici – and that Italian connection could help in pursuit of Nandez.

Leeds and Tottenham still want Nandez: Perfect January signing, for both
Nandez is your typical, pocket-sized, South American midfielder. Aggressive, hard-working, terrier-like. But what stands him out from others is his versatility, and his ability when in possession.
For Uruguay, Nandez plays as a right-back, or even a right wing-back. He can play as a four, an eight, box-to-box, playmaker, the lot. He has a bit of everything. What he lacks in the air, he makes up for on the deck.
While £31million is expensive, a club-record fee for Leeds, he would easily suit Marcelo Bielsa’s side – with Leeds crying out for a midfielder. Tottenham too, especially if Harry Winks departs.
