Report: Leeds and Stoke interested in £4m-rated Portsmouth centre-back Matt Clarke
Portsmouth defender Matt Clarke is a target for Leeds United and Stoke City, .
Clarke has been exceptional at the back for Portsmouth this season, earning himself a place in the EFL League One Team of the Year.
And he produced an assured performance in Sunday’s Checkatrade Trophy final alongside the equally-solid Christian Burgess in central defence.
Before the game, and ended the article by noting that he was likely to play Championship football next season – with or without Portsmouth.
Pompey are currently fourth and are outside contenders for the automatic promotion spots, meaning the lottery of the play-offs is their most likely route to the Championship.
But Clarke is being eyed by Leeds – who could win promotion to the Premier League – and Stoke with Portsmouth holding out for £4m.

The 22-year-old is under contract until summer 2020 and has the perfect blend of youth and experience.
With 166 Portsmouth games under his belt already, the former Ipswich Town defender has developed with senior playing time and is now ready to step up.
Having previously guided Portsmouth to promotion from League Two, Clarke is now hoping to do the same with the south coast club this season.
But if Portsmouth stay down, Leeds and Stoke could provide the powerful left-footed centre-half with the chance to play at a higher level.
