Report: Leeds and Newcastle among clubs keen on Fredrik Andre Bjorkan

Leeds United will battle the likes of Newcastle and Brighton to try and sign Bodo/Glimt defender, Fredrick Andre Bjorkan, according to a report from .

Bjorkan, 22, is also said to be on the radar of both Norwich and Bournemouth, although the lure of the Premier League will surely mean Leeds and Newcastle holding the upper hand.

The left-back is fresh off of helping Bodo win the Norwegian league title and has around 12 months left on his current deal. That, coupled with his success this term, is said to have opened the door for a move to England.

claims there would be no issues with a work permit, despite new EU rules because of Brexit in the UK.

Both Leeds and Newcastle could do with a recruit at left-back. Leeds, in particular, have played the likes of Dallas and Alioski there this season, with both players not naturals in the role.

Norway has a rich history of producing players for the Premier League and many have succeeded in the English game following moves.

Bjorkan, then, seems to have all the tools necessary for a modern left-back to do well. Despite scoring just once last term, he did lay on four goals for teammates, and produced consistent displays.

He won’t, you’d imagine, be the most expensive signing either so could well prove to be something of a hidden gem if Leeds or Newcastle do make their move.
