Report: Lazio ready to rival Leeds United for German star Robin Koch

Leeds United face a fight to sign German international defender Robin Koch this summer.

The Whites have been heavily linked with a move for the Freiburg star for a number of months, ever since Victor Orta used him as an example to showcase the club’s scouting techniques earlier in the year.

Now,, Leeds are hopeful of beating Tottenham to his £20 million signature, having given up on former loanee Ben White due to Brighton’s excessive asking price.

But it is not only in England where Koch is being followed. Leeds will also have to beat one of Italy’s biggest clubs to secure a deal.

, Lazio are keen on the versatile centre-back, who can also play in holding midfield.

The report claims that Koch has rejected a move to Benfica, where he would join countrymen, Julian Weigl and Luca Waldschmidt, as he wants to remain in a major European league.

However, Lazio sporting director Igli Tare is very keen on Koch and wants to beat Leeds to his signature.

So it is good news and bad news for Leeds fans. The good news is that Koch has no interest in joining his compatriots in Portugal. The bad news is that Lazio will be a difficult team to beat in a transfer pursuit.

The Biancocelesti can offer Champions League football to Koch, something Leeds cannot, meaning the Whites might have a battle on their hands winning the race to sign the impressive German.
