Report: Laporta warned Barcelona cannot consider signing Reguilon

that Sergio Reguilon will never be offered the chance to join Barcelona because the Tottenham Hotspur star continues to make no secret of his love for Real Madrid.

Reguilon appears to be one player who will leave Spurs before the transfer window shuts. And a move may well be close.

Reports on Wednesday claimed that he had told friends that he is close to joining Sevilla despite Spurs wanting up to £25.6 million. But they are not the only La Liga side potentially eyeing a deal.

It was suggested this week that Barcelona want Reguilon. The Catalan club consider the 25-year-old a cheaper alternative to Marcos Alonso and could bid to take the left-back on loan.

However, another report this evening appears to suggest that that may not be the case at all. , Barcelona have decided that they will never sign Reguilon.

The report claims that they ruled his name out some months ago when some of their directors warned Joan Laporta that Reguilon is a Real Madrid fanatic.

Barcelona move out of the question for Sergio Reguilon

Obviously, Reguilon’s allegiances would leave him with a bigger point to prove if he moved to Camp Nou. But it seems a little extreme for Barca to write off a move if it is solely down to the club he supports.

Of course, Tottenham made light of a similar situation when they signed boyhood-Arsenal fan Matt Doherty. And, while Doherty took a while to get going in North London, he has managed to become a reasonable signing.

He is not Barcelona’s top target. So you could understand why it may be something that they would prefer to avoid. But it would be odd to make it the deciding factor if they fail to sign the names above him.

Hopefully for Spurs, Reguilon is indeed close to joining Sevilla and the two clubs can reach an agreement soon.
