Report labels Arsenal greedy over Matteo Guendouzi fee

There is a delay as Marseille look to complete a move for Matteo Guendouzi, that Arsenal are being greedy in their asking price.

Guendouzi looks set to be one of the players who hands Mikel Arteta’s transfer kitty a boost this summer.

The midfielder spent the year on loan at Hertha Berlin this past season. And it now appears that he is set to secure a permanent move away.

It was recently claimed that a dozen clubs had made approaches for the 22-year-old. But it seems that Marseille are well on their way to winning the race.

that the Ligue 1 club remain hopeful of completing a deal. However, it is proving complicated.

According to the report, Arsenal are being greedy over the asking price. It is claimed that the Gunners want well over £8.6 million (€10 million).

Arsenal should be demanding more for Guendouzi

Of course, Arsenal’s priority should be to move Guendouzi on. But that does not mean that they have to open the doors for him to move on the cheap.

With that in mind, it seems baffling that they could be labelled greedy for wanting more than £8.6 million for the midfielder – who earns £40,000-a-week, .

He is a young player with a lot of potential. There is an opportunity for Marseille to make a major profit on the Frenchman further down the line.

So Arsenal are surely right to dig their heels in. There is little point letting Guendouzi go if it does not make a difference to Arteta’s budget this summer.

The good news is the report suggests that a deal is still expected.

Marseille surely cannot be too far away from meeting Arsenal’s asking price.

They already appear set to land themselves a very good deal. Arsenal look to be doing the right thing not letting the price drop further.
