Report: Kyle Lafferty rejects Kilmarnock move after Rangers exit

Ex-Rangers striker Kyle that he has turned down a move to Kilmarnock. Lafferty is still looking for a new club after leaving Rangers in the summer.

Lafferty was released at the end of his Rangers contract and he is now on the search for a new club. The Northern Ireland striker is likely to have offers from Scotland and abroad.

He has spoken with Kilmarnock and he discussed the possibility of joining them. But the 31-year-old has revealed that he had different plans to those of Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio.

: “I spoke to the manager and Massimo [Donati]. I looked at it because the manager said a lot of positive things about how he wants Kilmarnock to be this season.

“He seems to know what he’s talking about, but unfortunately we couldn’t agree anything. I think he was looking at different things to what I was. But I wish them all the best.”

TBR’s view

Lafferty is now at a vital stage of his career where he needs to find the right home. It makes sense for him to discuss with other clubs and reject them accordingly, depending on how he feels.

Things did not work out for Lafferty at Rangers, who found himself out of favour due to the form of Alfredo Morelos and, by the end of his spell, Jermain Defoe. But the physical centre-forward could be an asset for another Scottish club if he recaptures his form.
