Report: Klopp has been a fan of ‘devastating’ Liverpool player since 2018 and he could make full debut tonight
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had been a fan of Arthur for a number of years before finally getting the chance to work with him.
Journalist Graeme Bailey that Klopp tried to sign the midfielder back in 2018, when he was leaving Gremio in his native Brazil.
Liverpool missed out on that occasion and Klopp has had to wait until late, late on in this summer’s transfer window to get him.
He joined on deadline day as a loan signing and could make his full debut in the Champions League clash with Ajax tonight.

Liverpool boss Klopp wanted Arthur in 2018
He said: “After doing their homework including speaking to some their own squad members – they opted for Arthur, international colleague of the likes of Allison, Fabinho and Thiago.
“So why Arthur? I am told that he is a player that Klopp knew well as he actually had an interest in taking him to Anfield before.
“This was in 2018 as Arthur left Gremio for Europe – with Barcelona winning the race for his coveted signature, and Liverpool were keen.
“Since he moved to Barcelona, Arthur has endured a troubled time – which was surprising after he started very well. A move-swap to Juventus failed to kick-start his career but Liverpool are clear in their belief they can put it right or at the very least get him back on track.
“Despite Liverpool’s own struggles, they think that Arthur could and does have something to offer them this season.”
Earlier this year, wrote that the Brazilian has a ‘devastating’ range of passing but he has not yet started for Liverpool.
Perhaps he would have got that chance at the weekend against Wolves if the game was not called off and we will wait and see if he is in the team tonight.
Klopp is finally getting the chance to work with the midfielder, and looking to help him get his career back on track – as well as Liverpool’s season.
