Report: Klopp calls up ‘exciting’ 16-year-old with ‘bags of skill and talent’ to Liverpool training

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been putting his players through their paces ahead of their FA Cup meeting with Cardiff at Anfield.

The Reds are in great form at present and still fighting for the Premier League, the Champions League and both domestic cups.

Liverpool haven’t won the FA Cup since 2006, so Jurgen Klopp will be eager to bring the historic trophy back to Anfield.

The Reds boss has always shown an eagerness to give academy talents a chance, in training and on the pitch.

And on Friday, the reported that Klopp called Reds Under-18 prodigy Bobby Clark to first-team training.

The attacking talent, who , joined the Reds from Newcastle last summer.

A player who can play anywhere across the forward line and in midfield, Clark is the son of Newcastle cult hero Lee Clark.

“He is a really exciting player”

The youngster’s departure from St James’ Park left the Magpies reeling.

Lee Ryder, the Newcastle Chronicle’s chief Magpies reporter, spoke to the in September about how much of a “kick in the teeth” Clark’s departure was.

“Bobby was Newcastle’s most promising youngster,” said Ryder. “He is a really exciting player with bags of skill and talent.

“He could have lit up the stage at St James’ Park but now he has gone to Liverpool and that is a real kick in the teeth.

“Tottenham were in for him, Bayern Munich were at one point.

“And I heard a host of other top clubs around the continent knew about him – but he decided to go to Liverpool.

“Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world, so why wouldn’t he go there?”

Clark has been superb for Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s Under-18s this term, registering four goals and three assists from 12 U18 Premier League appearances.

The likes of Max Woltman and Melkamu Frauendorf have earned senior minutes this season, so Clark will fancy his chances of also getting some senior game time.
