Report: Juventus looking to raid Chelsea for West Ham-linked Emerson Palmieri

Juventus are looking to raid Chelsea and bring Emerson Palmieri back to Serie A after a difficult spell at Stamford Bridge – amid reported interest in the Italy international from West Ham.

Emerson, 26, joined Chelsea in January 2018 for a fee of £17.5million (), but has since played just 55 times for the west London club. Now, he has been placed on the transfer list, with Frank Lampard spending big to sign Ben Chilwell.

The Blues also boast Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta as cover for England international Chilwell. Emerson is allowed to leave Chelsea then, and the latest report claims Juventus are looking to sign Emerson – with a loan-to-buy option available.

last week that West Ham are also interested in signing Emerson as David Moyes looks to bring a new left-back to the London Stadium – with criticism coming in for Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku.

TBR’s view – Can West Ham beat Juventus to Emerson signing?

It is purely up to Emerson’s stance. Would he want to remain in the Premier League, where he may feel he has unfinished business? Certainly, joining West Ham would mean the Italian could avoid having to relocate.

But a move to Juve would see him return to his home country and have the chance to work under Italian legend Pirlo at a club that are undoubtedly Italy’s best. It would also see Emerson play in the Champions League, though he may not be first choice.

There are points in West Ham’s favour, but Juve are surely frontrunners.
