Report: Jurgen Klinsmann looking to beat Tottenham to Krzysztof Piatek signing

that Jurgen Klinsmann and Hertha Berlin have tried to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Krzysztof Piatek – but it has been rejected.

Piatek, 24, has been linked with a move to Tottenham and indeed other Premier League sides such as Newcastle United and Aston Villa this month. Football London describe him as Tottenham’s ‘top striker target’ ahead of Friday’s deadline.

The Football London report claims Spurs are doing everything they can to sign the Pole before the deadline. The difference being that AC Milan want a loan with an obligation to buy – to ensure they receive a fee – while Spurs want an option to buy.

Now, Spurs could face fighting with club legend Klinsmann for Piatek, as the ex-Spurs man has tried to bring the former Genoa star to the Bundesliga, only for a permanent bid to be rejected. It remains to be seen if Klinsmann will make a second bid.

TBR’s view – Signing Piatek would wrap up perfect January window

Levy has been hard at work but if you had asked a Tottenham fan at the start of January, what Spurs needed, they would have told you a striker, a midfielder and a permanent deal for Giovani Lo Celso. Spurs have got one more than that.

Indeed, they are reportedly closing in on the signing of Steven Bergwijn from PSV, already have Gedson Fernandes on loan from Benfica and have landed Lo Celso for £27million. Adding Piatek into the mix would make it a perfect window.
