Report: Jose Mourinho wants two Wolves players and Aston Villa attacker at Roma

that Jose Mourinho has shortlisted two Wolverhampton Wanderers stars and Aston Villa attacker Anwar El Ghazi as he prepares to replace Paulo Fonseca at AS Roma this summer.

Mourinho, 58, has landed himself a three-year contract at seventh-placed Serie A side Roma just 15 days after leaving Tottenham Hotspur. Fonseca will remain at Roma until the end of the season, and then replaced by Fonseca.

The report claims that Mourinho has added numerous Premier League players to his shortlist, including Tottenham duo Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as reported earlier this week – while Carlos Vinicius is also said to be an option for Mourinho.

Manchester United’s Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic are also considered, as are Wolves stars Nuno Semedo and Rui Patricio. El Ghazi, who has scored nine goals for Villa in all competitions, is also a player being considered by Mourinho this summer.

TBR’s view – Will Mourinho really have the money to spend at Roma?

While the new owners of the Italian club are likely to have convinced Mourinho by tempting him with a big budget, it will hardly be an endless bucket of goodies. He needs to spend wisely, or at least sell some of his assets first.

Of the two Wolves players and El Ghazi, the latter is likely to be most-tempted with a move to Roma. While he is impressing at Villa, he seems an ambitious type and the chance to play for Roma will certainly tempt him.

A goalkeeper is needed and Patricio would be a good signing, while Semedo is likely to prove too expensive given Wolves spent big on the ex-Barcelona player. But Mourinho needs to spend his limited funds wisely this summer.
