Report: Jose Mourinho joins race to sign highly-rated right-back, Arsenal and Tottenham already linked
Norwich City right-back Max Aarons has a big decision to make this summer. Having returned to the Premier League, does he stay at Norwich? Or does he leave his boyhood club? Well, Jose Mourinho has joined the race for Aarons – along with Arsenal and Tottenham.
Aarons, 21, has enjoyed another hugely successful season at Carrow Road. Following last season’s relegation, Aarons chose to remain with Norwich and it is a decision that has paid off – helping Norwich return to the Premier League. He now has 130 appearances under his belt with the Canaries.
He has constantly been linked with a move, though. that Arsenal and Tottenham are going ‘head to head’ in the race for England Under-21 star Aarons. But both clubs now have another competitor in the race for the defender – in the form of Mourinho.
Mourinho wants to sign Aarons and lure him to Italy. The ex-Tottenham gaffer has been linked with a whole host of Premier League stars – including Spurs trio Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Carlos Vinicius. say Aarons has a price tag of £30million. Fabrizio Romano claim Everton have no chance of signing Aarons.
Which club is best for Aarons – Tottenham, Arsenal or under Mourinho at Roma?
Right now, Aarons would start for all three. Roma need a summer overhaul and Aarons would start on the right side of the defence. But he is still young and the chances are that he would rather remain in England. At Tottenham, he is clearly better than Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty.
With Arsenal, they do have Hector Bellerin – a player at his best is better than Aarons. But the Spain international is struggling to achieve his best. Cedric Soares has been poor, and Calum Chambers is a centre-back. It is a tricky decision for Aarons, who might even prefer to remain at Norwich.
