Report: Joe Aribo to have Charlton talks on Friday, but set for £250k Rangers move
that Joe Aribo is set for sit-down talks with Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer on Friday, with his move to Rangers all but completed.
The 22-year-old is set to sign for Steven Gerrard’s side with his contract set to expire at the end of the month. Aribo caught the attention of Rangers after scoring 10 goals and laying on five assists for the Addicks last season.
Aribo has caught attention from clubs in the Championship and even in the Premier League. It is believed he agreed a new Charlton deal last summer, only for owner Roland Duchatalet pulled the plug.
Now, Charlton will only receive a fee of £250,000 this summer for Aribo’s signature in compensation. Bowyer has signed a new one-year deal after some confusion, and he is set for talks with Aribo on Friday.

Aribo is set to sign for Rangers, which will make him the Gers’ sixth summer signing after Jake Hastie, Jordan Jones, Steven Davis, Greg Stewart and Sheyi Ojo. But Bowyer will have one more go at trying to convince him.
TBR’s view
Aribo needs first-team football to continue his excellent development and the chances of him getting that at a club like Rangers are somewhat unlikely. Indeed, he will play with Rangers in the Europa League, but not as regularly.
The likes of Davis, Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack are all expected to remain above Aribo in the pecking order, while Ojo could be considered above Aribo though the Liverpool loanee is likely to also be used out wide.
Staying at Charlton will certainly help his progression, but it looks as though Aribo has made up his mind.
